Tufted annual grass to 60 cm high1

Distinguishing characteristics (within family/genus):

This species differs from Briza maxima by having 3-7 mm spikelets that are numerous in a panicle. Briza maxima has spikelets to 10 mm long and up to 15 per panicle1
