Family Description:
Stiff hairs protruding from wart-like growths are usually present. Leaves are simple and entire, alternate and often rosetted at the base. Flowers are in inflorescences and have a fused corolla with 5 lobes with scales often present in the throat of the tube or at it's base. There are as many stamens as petals and the filaments are often fused to the corolla.
