Distribution and ecological preference at Wilsons Promontory (if known):

Common, especially on sandy soils. Particularly common north of Darby River, for example along Cotters Lake track. Grows in damp coastal sands and wet or inundated habitats ¹

Flowers small and inconspicuous ²

Habit:

Tufted, perennial sedge to 1 m high ¹

Distinguishing characteristics (within family/genus):

This species has leaves that are reduced to tubular sheaths at the stem base, flowers are in globular clusters that are up to 20 mm in diameter ¹
